February 2003 Letter from Art Lange
Dear Friend:
I have had many calls concerning Meyer lemon trees. I was not contacted by Home & Garden Magazine but I have finally seen the article.
We DO sell the fruit and frozen juice. This year's crop will be ready mid-to-late November. We sell other citrus besides Meyers, i.e., blood orange, Mandarin tangerines, navel orange, Oro Blanco grapefruit, and tangelos. We also sell excellent UNSULFURED dried fruits of all types, including citrus, stone fruits, apples, and pears.
We have not sold trees, but perhaps we should consider it. However, this would require several months to have enought trees propagated. I know of a California nursery where bare root Meyer lemon trees can be purchased. Their price is about $39.00 for a 2-3 year tree. They will send by priority mail which will add about $15.00 to the cost. You can contact them at:
Four Winds Growers
3373 Sackett Lane
Winter, CA 95634
phone number: 530-795-4670
- Their website is www.fourwindsgrowers.com
- or they can be contacted by e-mail at
fourwinds@fourwindsgrowers.com
I would suggest that you get two trees as it would be good insurance for your getting a good healthy tree at a reasonable cost and in a reasonable time.
If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Art Lange
